{The Wolf Man} ~ Howlin' Wolf
Charcoal drawing of legendary Rhythm and Blues artist Chester Arthur Burnett, aka Howlin' Wolf, on this, his birthday.
Born in West Point Mississippi, Howlin' Wolf went on to establish the Chicago Style or South Side Chicago Blues Style along with Jimmy Rodgers and Muddy Waters.
Famous for his voice and electric guitar playing on such songs as "Back Door Man", "Moanin at Midnight", "Killing Floor", Wolf got his name from his grandfather, who claimed that the wolves would alert the grandfather whenever Howlin' Wolf would misbehave. His mother, a deeply religious woman, threw him out of the house at a young age. He went on singing the blues.
Howlin' Wolf was a huge influence on the Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton.
