{Ain't Misbehavin'} ~ Fats Waller

Charcoal portrait of Jazz pianist, organist, composer, and comedic entertainer, Fats Waller on this his birth date.

Waller is perhaps most famous for the music "Honeysuckle Rose" and "Ain't Misbehavin".

A prized pupil, Waller was dubbed " the black [Victor] Horowitz".  He frequently played Johann Sebastian Bach's organ music for friends.

His most notorious gig was a command performance for Al Capone.

Kidnapped by four men, Waller was the 'surprise guest' at crime kingpin Al Capone's birthday party and was forced at gunpoint to play.

The Irish rock group Thin Lizzy dedicated a song to him titled "Fats".
