back page cartoon for Muse Magazine and their 'Amused' section.
Similar to the New Yorker's back page, readers were encouraged to offer their punchlines which would be published at a later issue. 
The task was to set the table for the reader but still leave it open for varied responses.  Dogs and bones..... many possibilities
I always loved the New Yorker cartoon style {which was a direct descendant of Simplicissimus} :  lively line work with a more 'impressionistic' approach versus the tightly- controlled and belabored outline style one found in comics.
