"A lifetime ago, I bustle along on a busy Saturday morning at Canadian Tire," writes Robert Baraniecki in the recent editon of CMAJ, "I try in vain to keep filling the empty floorspaces with more bikes, as the warehouse supply rapidly dwindles."
thus begins a reflective meditation on how his early experience as a clerk in a Canadian Tire store translated to his role as a doctor later in life.
A digital illustration, I opted to show him as a youth in front of a bicycle from Canadian Tires but playing 'dress up' in a full grown Doctor's lab coat. The view is slightly below to convey the certainties of youth at odds with this coming-of-age narrative of a reflective doctor later in life.
